Elías López Miró
I was born in New York in 1974, but raised in Puerto Rico and quickly realized my passion for art at the very early age of 5. I have always been inquisitive about the vast mediums in which I could express my creativity. I began to draw at least one thing from my daily life, from that year on. By the time I was 7 or 8 years old, I could draw just about anything I saw. Teachers always asked me to draw things related to the season of the year on the top part of the chalk board and some of the classroom posters with scenes related to any story or book that we were reading at that moment. I quickly realized there was a potential for my talent and began to sell posters for other students' book reports and presentations in high school. This created a feel for the way that I would begin marketing my talent.

After high school, I enrolled in the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. It was there that I became an athlete (Olympic Weight Lifting), sold my paintings, as well as, worked as a photographer. I painted murals in an effort to pay for my education in Visual Arts. As an athlete, I achieved recognition, becoming the national champion at the Novice Competition in 1993 (establishing new records). Fascinated with the human figure, I dedicated the next few years of my life to the sport that paid for my tuition. I began winning national and international competitions in the Carribean Islands and Venezuela. I established some national records and became the national champion in 1995.

I also dedicated my life to study the human anatomy and the different ways of expressing my art. While being a full time athlete, full time student, dedicated to learning and becoming the best at everything I did, I had very little time for anything else.

My teachers quickly recognized my talent and encouraged me to explore different techniques. However, being in college was not so easy for me. I did not have much money, but I did have a lot of belief, perserverance and will. During the hard times I created this painting "Pulling my own chains." This was to constantly remind my self that I could be anything I wanted to be as long as I didn't pull on my own chains and restrict myself from believing that I could do anything if I tried hard enough and believed, I could achieve anything I put my mind to. So against all odds, I graduated from college with a Bachelor's Degree in Visual Arts that consisted in three Majors: 1) Painting and Graphic Arts, 2) Sculpture and Pottery, and 3) Photography. My interests and continuous hard work has turned me into a multifaceted artist who masters drawing, painting, sculpting, airbrush, photography, and much more.

My love for art, individual style, sense of composition and bold use of design has earned me several awards including: Best Mural design from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico; Best Mural award from the Museum of Puerto Rican Art in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Stage Scenario Director of the Year during 1992 awarded by the Puerto Rico Department of Education.

I am currently working as a Artist and Web Designer in Orlando Florida,
and I'm looking forward to gaining support and recognition for my artwork.
